R.I.P Elizabeth the Great. Thank you for your 70 years of service.
Apparently the Queen accepted the doctrine of the Divine Right of Kings (or Queens) which is tantamount to saying the royal blood line is determined by God.
It so happens that Elizabeth was a good person and a fine Queen but what if Andrew rather than Charles had been her successor? How would the fervent royalists on here have felt about that situation?
English history is full of bad monarchs, which is why their powers were limited once the Divine Rights of Kings could be challenged.

BFP is one of these nice kind caring socialists that are only nice kind and caring if you have the same beliefs as them.
I think the monarchy would have become far less popular, and put under pressure, had Andrew become king, obviously.
I expect the monarchy will never be as popular as it was under Queen Elizabeth II, certainly not under Charles or William, who are getting too involved in politics/climate change.
As for fawning, I think the affection and support for the late queen was all genuine.
Not on the level of the Queen but I think William will get alot of respect as he actually seems a good person which counts for alot.
If Andrew were to become King then I think they'd have just skipped to William. It's not much good for the brand having Andrew anywhere near the crown which they'd obviously know.
I'm not a royalist, I'm not anti either, I'm not too fussed either way really but have respect for good people. I'm much more worried about the Tories and Truss than any monarchy, they effect my everyday life much more.
