I didn't see the Final so I can't comment, and I'm not on a wind-up either, you two clearly enjoy the game, so good luck to you, but I have tried and tried and better tried, and the only conclusion I can reach is that Rugby League is not for me.

I'm surprised at that Alfie, I've watched half a dozen League games over the last couple of years before giving in to the boredom, did it really take you half a dozen F1 races to decide it was boring ?

One certain anomaly is Speedway, I spent 4/5 years following Halifax Dukes all over the country, the starts were the best part, but after the first bend it was usually just a 4 lap procession, overtaking was a rare event. But I loved it. I loved watching this procession and I can't explain why I found this exciting and League boring. Doesn't make sense really does it, I honestly can't explain my problem with League, I know I should like it, but I don't.

Tw international games that are forever gloriously etched into my napper; the 1966 FIFA World Cup Final and the 2003 Rugby World Cup Final when England won the Rugby World Cup with a breathtaking Jonny Wilkinson drop goal just 26 seconds from the end of a thrilling final in Sydney. England won 20-17.

If anything, ever emulates those two games I will die a happy man.

I watched that 2003 Final in France, surrounded by Frenchmen, and to be fair to them they were quite magnanimous about it. I did get into a few arguments after about the England team, it was, and still is, my contention that we were not the best team at that tournament, we won it on the back of Johnny Wilkinson's goal-kicking. Thank god Johnny was English, if he had been playing for anyone else we would not have won it. I know Clive Woodward disagrees, but he would, wouldn't he.
