yup, we had the chance to bring in Zander Clark and add a stable proven keeper and we let him go to hearts, i dont care if him and ****namara were trying to fleece us that could well be the difference in us staying up, going doon will be far more costly

is the lack of confidence in defence due to the keeper situation? cant help thats for sure

In other words, you can’t see ourselves playing our way out of this. The squad is completely imbalanced with a ludicrous overloading of central midfielders. Additionally losing Lewis Neilson meant we needed another CH. That didn’t happen. Losing Siegrist meant we should have kept Trevor Carson. That didn’t happen. Losing Fuchs and then Butcher meant we needed a CDM. That didn’t happen. Losing Shankland, then McNulty, then selling Clark meant we needed another striker. That didn’t happen. The playing squad is completely imbalanced and totally not fit for purpose.

And BTW, for all his indiscretions, if we still had The Butch we would not be sitting where we are and we would not be getting bullied like yesterday and frankly every match to date. We are missing his dig and leadership massively.
    great post!!!!!!

The flip side of this is that we spunk a fortune on him then go down anyway.

He turned us down to go and sit on bench for a pretty penny. F*ck him.

Just a couple of point and probably in most, who have seen United more than I have lately

    1. Mulgrew has to be the CDM, he can play and defend - pace let’s him down
    2. Mad idea - re role Watt into that CDM - pace rubbish but pretty solid and can play and will allow Levitt and whoever to be more forward facing. Wasn’t it the case of yester year that the older you got you moved towards a more defensive role.
    3. I think Meekison has proved himself capable, time to reassess Mochrie, Glass etc, both we know can play football. We can debate physicality all day long, but they have to step up sometime. Stuck in lower league will not improve them.
    4. Goalkeeper no idea but is Newman that bad?
    5. Probably take a few pastings, but we didn’t last year and had 16 year olds playing. We have been battered with the so called experience.
    6. Time to be brave and radical as current model is not working even if steadied a little.

Mulgrew or Smith in CDM would be a shout mate, we need something thats for sure and Sibbald isnt getting a sniff.

Would certainly try Smith. That would allow Levitt to play further forward and give Freeman a run of games at wing back. We need Mulgrew at the back purely because we have no one else.

Smith possibly but a bit lightweight is my thought. But would give Freeman a run. Sibbald forgot about, Sir Peter used to laud him when he was younger as shoein for U21. Not sure what is wrong there if medically unfit, why wasn’t this picked up.

I am still going to stick neck out and still say Watt could be re roled. Brown and Goodwin never blessed with great skill but did a job; nether were they great footballers, Watt is a much better footballer maybe lacks the fitness, but I think he likes the physical battle, even he does a bit of gamesmanship falling over.

So whatever the formation and we might need to think radically, but no more than the risk taking now which has been frankly unacceptable.

    Goalie - Newman

Freeman Graham Edwards Behich - sub Smith

Mulgrew (change to back 5) Watt - sub Sibbald

McGrath Levitt Meekison - subs Mochrie, Glass, Middleton, Niskanen, Harkes

    Fletcher Sadat - Cudjoe, McLeod

As always there is risk, but where has our so called best 11 got us so far a few pumpings and a sacked manager!

Fox/Crawford need to start watching McLean years or consult Luggy! ‘There is no substitute for positive play’
