A busy week for Queens with Kelty Hearts away tonight, - followed by Peterhead on Saturday.
As I alluded to a couple of weeks ago, - when Queens played Edinburgh City for the second time, - there was an opportunity to completely change the team, - to allow the manager an opportunity to check out his second string, - to keep things fresh for the league campaign when things got busy. Here we are a fortnight later with 3 games in a week, and we will inevitably have to freshen things up or risk jaded players and injury.
It's a tough old league the First Division, - as has been mentioned by many, - and this might be a pivotal week for the club.
Still early doors but not winning these next two games is going to put enormous pressure on the gaffer. We can’t continue dropping points whilst the gap at the top grows ever bigger.
Not looking good....
A bit harsh Johnny to say the least!
I think we are being disrespectful to the other teams in the league by assuming that Queens just need to turn up and win.
They have to do much more than that, and if the penny hasn't dropped with some of the players, - it should now.
Wullie has assembled a good squad and there have been some excellent performances this season, - but also some pretty poor ones, - not unusual in football!
This was always going to be a difficult week with 3 games, - 2 of them away from home, - but if we win on Saturday that will obviously be 1 win, 1 draw and 1 defeat, - hardly time for the BOD to make a decision.
If we had suffered 4 or 5 straight losses with very poor performances, - I would be echoing your thoughts, - but let's rein in the calls for anyone's head please.
Football is not a simple matter of 'managing' in the normal sense of the word, - there are a plethora of ingredients which occur in each 90 minutes that could never have been foreseen by the best of critics, - so can we please stop pressing the panic button until (God forbid) we really have something to panic about.
Curry or tommato sauce with their pies?
Think thats all the board will be sweating on....
Of course its not good Johnny, - and no-one is denying that, - but as I keep saying - if the performances had been unacceptable - then there would be a lot of people shouting for a potential change, - but that has not been the case and Queens on the whole in the last few games have been playing really, - really well.
Simply changing the manager in the middle of October would be completely futile, as even the best out of work manager would not get any better performances. Like last season, - Queens have been plagued by bad luck and if we'd scored 7 against Alloa two weeks ago, - which they could and should have done, - would anyone who had witnessed that honestly be calling for a managerial change?
I ask those who shout the loudest to go along and watch the team and really analyse the effort, the tactics and the passion, - and then to say we need to change the manager, - because few will agree with you.
Now, if in a month's time we are still struggling to get any points, - then serious questions might need to be asked, - but for now, could we stop this mindless request for a new manager?
One final point: please remember that this Saturday's match will be the third in a week, - which is a big ask for any team.
