I wasn't worried about Goodwin telling the players they were shyte, the issue was backing that up by signing quality.

Signing Stewart and making him captain wasn't really a ringing endorsement of us signing the quality needed to progress as a team, but I don't think Goodwin had much say in who we signed, which could well be a problem for any manager we have.

I knew he liked Scales and tried to buy him and I can see why, there is a decent player in Scales.
I could see Stewart easily playing for either of the saints or Motherwell, County, but never us, especially they way we were trying to play.
It's never good when signings don't work out though.

I believe he was a dandy, but changed to the zombie club as a young kid around the time of Souness.
