Three SWFL players will be honoured with a player of the season award by league sponsor Biffa, as the Scottish Women’s Football League draws the last season in its current format to a conclusion. Ahead of the penultimate round of fixtures, online nominations are open for players across the Biffa SWFL North/East, the Biffa SWFL Central/South East and the Biffa SWF West/South West. The players from each league with the most nominations by Friday 3 December will be named Player of the Season ahead of the new-look Biffa SWFL which will launch in the new year as the pyramid of Women’s Football in Scotland takes shape.

Scottish Women’s Football CEO Aileen Campbell said: “The regional Scottish Women’s Football League provides ***** opportunities for women to play our game right across the country, and as we have emerged from the huge disruptions of the pandemic the 2022 season has been an incredible showcase of the role the Biffa SWFL teams play in communities across Scotland. As we look forward to building the pathways that allow clubs to move up the leagues and reach the very top, I welcome the opportunity Biffa have given us to celebrate and honour the players who have lit up the league in this final season in its current format. There will be players who kept clean sheets, who motivated their team to push on, who scored a barrel load of goals, and I encourage as many people as possible to vote in the next two weeks.”
