    Pakistan v England First Test

I have been watching with great enjoyment the TV series SAS Rogue Heroes. Who Dares Wins. This match was the cricketing equivalent. Attacking cricket from the off. A declaration that bordered on the suicidal. Just over 340 to win in four sessions in a match that had already produced 1500 runs on a flat track giving little help to spin. Pakistan’s run chase was always on pitted against a seam attack and bold field placings. The last wicket fell just as the sun was about to set on proceedings. One of the greatest Test matches I have ever watched. If only the England team in Qatar could set about a football match in the same fashion. The reality is- if we only can beat France in the Quarter Final- we have every chance of being World Champions at football again. Who Dares (does indeed) Win. Will we be bold enough in the moment?

It's great pity Jimmy Anderson never took up football Sir Outwood. The man is the cricket equivalent to Pele IMHO, surely he must rank as the greatest fast bowler of all time.

I watched almost all of the first test, Jimmy's bowling to take 4 wickets on a dull, flat pitch in Pakistan's second innings was really quite remarkable.

How much longer can he possibly go on?

Jimmy is right up there with the greatest of them all. I had the privilege of watching Andy Roberts and Malcolm Marshall bowling for Hampshire. I doubt any fast bowler will match Jimmy’s illustrious long career and dedication to his sport.

Absolutely fantastic achievement by England and Jimmy. What a team performance it was.
