    Laurie Cunningham

Thinking back to how little he played for England.

Just imagine he was 18-20 years old nowadays, he’d be an absolute certainty to be playing every match for England.

Sterling, Saka, Mount et al are not even close to the ability Laurie had.

Talk about being born at the wrong time, the lad would’ve been more protected physically, had more time and space in which to work.

Although I loved Willie Johnston, I’ve never seen a player with the smooth, effortless power and balance that Laurie had, he could ride a tackle like a £20 whore.

Totally agree. He seemed to glide over the pitch effortlessly. I remember a game against Boro. The Boro defenders were falling over trying to get the ball off him as he swerved from side to side. We would be constantly standing in our seats now if he was playing for us. Wonderful player.

And do you honestly think that Mountgate, would've selected him?

There's no way, that the present England manager, would've had a clue how to use such talent.
