Talking of students at Tannadice....

I was in 7th Heaven when I got a game at Tannadice whilst at Heriot Watt Univ. I was 'trialing' for Brechin City (I knew the Brechin manager) against a United reserve/young team under the midweek lights. A young Graeme Payne was playing for Utd. I could barely kick the ball for being in awe of where I was, instead of making headed clearances I was too busy pinching myself.

Anyway one of my mates had nipped along to watch (it was closed doors) and found himself standing near two of the Brechin officials.

'Who's the tall lad at the back', asked one to the other. 'Not sure, think he's a student or something' was the response. 'Well he should sharpen his pencil' was the retort.

That's as far as I got I'm afraid but I'll never forget my 90 mins on Tannadice.

No but never checked to see if he had Aussie heritage. He wasn't even the worst keeper I ever played with, when we played fives a guy used to turn up head to toe in the full rangers goalkeeper kit, gloves and everything, he looked the part, so everyone thought this guy must be the real deal - he was pure dead honking. He was only goalkeeper I knew that could actually make a five a side goal look bigger. Being fives though, everyone was just delighted to have found someone who wanted to go in goal.

Yup its normally always done at fulltime however its a wonder they arnie making us wait until the shock of the round in Darvel tomorrow night.
