    And they were making heavy weather of it until that free-kick went in. I suppose it will convince Gareth's fan boys in the media, but it didn't convince me.

    And so to Senegal on Sunday. Last 16 but it reminds me a little of the Quarter Finals in 1990 when we faced Cameroon. That went to extra time. It could be a close run thing again.

    The two English central defenders are very poor and are nowhere near good enough to get us anywhere near to winning a World Cup.

    Wales had their chances, a good team would have taken them. It was another unconvincing defensive display.
