Mansfield Town, home, Tuesday 14th February, Valentine's Day

I suggest that given the number of Tuesdays between the beginning of the year and 6th May the EFL's decision to arrange one of the two Tuesday full blocks of League Two fixtures on Valentine's Day was crass stupidity.

Let's just take the Carlisle United case. Blokes will feel totally obliged to take their partners to some romantic venue for the evening and with all due respect to Brunton Park it has featured in few of the great romantic films, novels and poems. Blokes have an obligation to take their partners to a high quality restaurant in Carlisle, Penrith, Kendal, Whitehaven, Workington etc. The Lake District has countless well known restaurants, hotels and romantic venues which will be doing substantial marketing of their Valentines Day offers. Even those blokes who do not take their partners out for the evening may well feel obliged to not go to a football match that evening.
