Football Insider claim Langstaff's contract is up in "June 2024".

When we signed him in June 2022, the official NCFC stated he was on a three-year deal i.e. through to June 2025: https://www.nottscountyfc.co.uk/news...-signs-010622/

So, either Notts are telling fibs, or 'Football Insider' haven't got as much of an inside track as they claim. In fact, they aren't even reading the already published information.

For a club of Notts' size every player will ultimately have their price, but I don't think we're under the pressure to sell that this article is implying.

I agree we may not be under financial pressure to sell. However, if the players head gets turned and he demands the move then there is a bigger issue. If I was Notts i’d be sat down with Langstaff and his agent now on preparation for January and talk through the possible scenarios and stating the circumstances we would consider him leaving (should he want) ie the amount it would take. I would also be asking him to give us until the summer - get us up and we can look at a) new contract or if we do/don’t go up b) if a sensible offer comes in letting you leave.

I genuinely think he’s happy here but the lure of League 1 and even championship clubs for an ambitious player would be strong.

One of those situations where he will probably be worth more at the end of the season with 30+ goals and a promotion on his CV. Would be very shocked if he went in January. Well that's the hope I'm clinging on to!!

Naturally I don’t think he will go, the only issue I think is wages. If someone is willing to pay him say 10k a week, which I imagine is roughly 4 times what he’s on at Notts, will he want to lose out on that wage for 6 months? It’s not pocket change for someone who hasn’t earned big before.

Bostock is a blast from the past, Simon Jordan tried his best to keep him at Palace saying it would be better for his development. He went to Spurs and eventually dropped off a cliff, he was extremely rated at Palace as a youth player.

Doubt he's on 2k here. Probably closer to 1k. We signed him from the fifth division. Even with the amazing season he had with Gateshead, I don't think he'd come in as one of our highest earners.

As others have said, we don't need to sell him, but the owners' long-term strategy does seem to involve treating players as investments - buy low, sell high. I agree that he'll probably be worth more at the end of the season, and we'll certainly have a better chance of going up if he stays, so selling in January makes little sense - unless we get an offer that's too good to turn down. No idea what it would take for our owners to give in and let him go. £500k or more?

I don't think he's replaceable like-for-like, but with the money we'd get for him, we'd be in a great position to get a couple of top-class players at this level. And as the whole Cal Roberts thing showed, losing high-profile players isn't always the end of the world.

Maybe Football Insider has been getting their info from the Rectum forum?
