    Racism “scandal” at the Palace.

What a completely over the top reaction in a desperate attempt to cow tow to the media and the respective “groups” that specialise in being offended.

An elderly “lady in waiting” of 83 years of age who has served in this non paid roll for 50-60 years gets pilloried and tossed to the wolves.

Her offence, asking a black lady during polite conversation making.....”what country are you from?”

Said black lady takes immediate offence and it’s then all over the media.

This is a disgrace in my opinion, Lady Hussey who perpetrated his heinous crime had given lifelong service at no charge to the Queen and Royal Family and yet Prince Baldy Bonce couldn’t fire her fast enough!

My own mother is 84, it’s just the sort of thing she could easily come out with when making conversation with someone of a different race who she didn’t know.

Why do some people take such offence, why not just laugh it off and say.....”actually dear I’m from Oxford, born and bred” and tell the other person not to worry about the faux pas?

On my one visit to America I constantly got asked where in Australia I came from......a possibly appalling accusation to make to an Englishman but I just laughed it off and told each person proudly that I was English.

A lot of this sort of stuff is generational, my mum and her ilk will soon be all gone and this sort of stuff will naturally die out anyway.

Nobody seems to give a toss about the old dear who has given over 50 years of free service ( obviously I get it that she was privileged which allowed this ) and how she must be feeling.

As for the Royals, it’s only a couple of years since they buried old “slitty eyes” Philip.

Never any suggestions he was going to be divorced and thrown out for far greater crimes of racism.

William is such a wet wipe.

Totally agree with you about the generational thing. My 93 year old Mum is exactly the same.

That said I was talking to a white guy yesterday and wasn’t sure where he was from, but I suspected South Africa. He told me he was from Zimbabwe and it was a common mistake.

Thankfully he was white because it is getting to the point that you daren’t ask a person of a different colour than white anything in case it gets construed as racial. What an absolute farce.

I agree with you,Mick, and the horrible woman is milking it for all she is worth. All this racism stuff has now become so annoying that it is counterproductive. I am convinced that there is more racism in the black community than amongst white people. It’s ridiculous that this issue and the whining woman hits the news headlines over and above the serious issues going on at the moment.

    Absolute nonsense.

Although I understand, given the current climate of woke-ism, why many may be frustrated at this story making the headlines and agree it's all been blown out of proportion a bit, I think there is more to it than this.

From what I have read, I am led to believe that the woman in question was asked where she came from and that she replied th a t she was born in the uk but that the former lady in waiting was not satisfied with this answer and continued to ask where she was "really from". If this is true, then I have to say that the accusation of racism seems true. Doubtless, given the age and position of the former lady in waiting, this is partly a generational thing too-but this does not make It right.

It may be a subtle point but many second/third plus generation "immigrants" born and bred in this country see themselves as English (albeit with a heritage from another country). They get understandably annoyed when some white English people don't then consider them "proper" English-mostly on account of their skin colour. A cursory look at the history of these isles however shows the British to be a very much a mongrel race and so the concept of a "pure" English heritage is pretty much bollox. I assume most who subscribe to the view simply mean "white".

Personally, I see nothing wrong in asking about someone's heritage if it is through genuine interest or relevant and, in itself, is certainly not racist but it can also clearly be used as part of racist behaviour.

Interestingly, the Nigerian author, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, recently raised her own concerns about the current woke culture and how too many are forced to self censor themselves for fear of offending someone to the detriment of free speech. As Obama and many others have pointed out, conflict and disagreement are far more likely to be resolved through communication and open and honest debate than unhealthy censorship.

Interesting isn't it, that a black women only charity get invited to the Palace, and then post an unverified commentary on Twitter, for this to be picked up by MSN. MSN would never have gone anywhere near the story without verification from an independent source. I know it's the way people with agendas work these days

Having just watched Ngozi Fulani's interview, she certainly does not come across as a "horrible" woman out to score points on the back of playing the "race" card and she makes some very valid points and seems quite a measured and thoughtful person. That said, I personally don't think such insults are helpful. We are all too quick to make judgement calls at times without investigating the headlines further. This doesn't then mean that we are necessarily either cretins or racist.

Your record on this board speaks for itself; it spells idiot. Do you know a cretin when you see one? You’ve clearly looked in the mirror.

The woman is banging the ‘racist’ drum for all she is worth, that is not nice; indeed, I think that it is horrible.
