    Ot Rotherham Taxis

    Rotherham taxis.
    How much a mile?
Is it fuel price, time driving, mileage. How do they charge?

Looking forward to this one as we’ll be using taxis a lot over the next 3 weeks. When we were here in March taxis were hard to come by as there was a shortage of drivers? Is that still the case?
    Also, any recommendations?Thanks.

Do you not rent a car on your visits, Sota? Think it probably works out cheaper than taxis and more convenient. I'm over from January 19 to Feb 9 and picking a car up from Avis at Heathrow and dropping it back there when I return. Can't remember what the full price was but I'm using some BA miles (Avios - I have their Chase credit card for general shopping) and the cost after that is $330 for the three weeks.

That's a very good price CT. Without any rewards I'm paying $780 for a 'VW Passat or similar" for 19 days but that is over the Christmas period. I originally paid $950 with Avis but after a while saw a better price with Europcar. I thought these were pretty good prices around $40-$50/day as in Hawaii this summer they were asking $200/day.

Sounds like I might even be able to pick up a few quid moonlighting as a taxi while I'm there

We have use of a car when we're darn sarf and may well hire one for the rest of the trip. To be honest, all the speed cameras bother me a bit as we have virtually none here and I'm not used to them. I'm not a speeder by any means but a lapse in concentration or 5mph over and bam! Not only that but 90% of the socialising involves getting p!ssed lol so taxis and Uber might be best :-)
