January Transfer Window

January Transfer Window is upon us, Sunday 1/1/23 is D-Day.
Will RM be entrusted with handling the transfers in and out?
Definitely, because we can’t afford to fire him.
There was talk recently about extending his contract, so the owners are behind him anyway, even if the fans are not.
We badly need some wing-backs as a priority if we’re sticking with Martin and his system. Rotherham’s Chiedozie Ogbene is one we’ve chased for a while but he was too expensive last summer at £2m. He’s in the last year of his contract so could be available at a reduced price in this window, otherwise he walks for free next summer.

Brandon Cooper has joined Forest Green Rovers on loan until the end of the season.
Morgan Whittaker has been recalled from his Plymouth loan, and is not a happy man.

Only movement is departures so far with almost half the window gone.
Ogbene to come from Rotherham? Surely they’re asking too much with only 6 months left on his contract, I read somewhere £1M, they must be joking!
Obafemi to Burnley? Paterson to Coventry? - we hope imminently, they’ve burnt their bridges with Swansea.

Finally there’s movement with one of the two troublemakers gone.
Obafemi to Burnley on loan with a commitment to buy for £4m at the end of the season.
Perhaps we can now bring in some much needed reinforcements.
Four days of the transfer window left, the countdown has begun.

If the loan doesn’t work out then he returns to us, strange one-sided deal that.
