To my mind the greatest footballer I’ve never seen...other than on TV...and a very fine human being too.
As a 12 year old during the 1966 World Cup I remember hearing that ‘Brazil were injured’ following a thinly disguised succession of ‘assaults’ on Pele by a ruthless Bulgarian (?) opposition.
Didn’t understand what they meant at the time...they were right...no team could cope with losing the genius that was Pele. A genuine hero for our times. RIP.
