    Cambridge Uniteds Gates.

Cambridge is not a footballing town and never will be, ever.

When United got promotion to the football league, and the years preceding that, United had a solid core of 2,200, which included me.
Towards the end of the season, with United riding high, the gates would climb to about 5,000, with little away support.

Uniteds gate saturday, was 5,700, with 700 away fans. I dont read the club website anymore, but i would guess the club still gives tickets away, which makes the actual paying fans less than 5,000.

So, in div 1, not the southern league, you might expect the gates to be higher, they are not. To suggest the gates are good is laughable.

When United hit div 2 and lower, it will plunge even lower, with no hope of ever coming up to higher divisions, especially with a con man in charge.

When Cambridge booms, you will have to be rich to live in Cambridge, and those people will watch london teams, watch Swan Lake, etc, rather than drink lager in the Regal.

That is all. Jim of Lyndewode Road.

The Southern league, its in Uniteds DNA, the sooner the better. United v Rushden, magic.

Don't you miss going to The Abbey though? I tried to stop going to Meadow Lane but found myself heading down there after whatever reason I convinced myself to go down,Notts fighting for the top spot obviously helps as nobody likes to pay good money to watch dross,if Utd was in the playoffs would you go down Frank, surely you won't be happy to see Utd in non league?
