    Careless Tories!

So after threatening media and others with legal action, it transpires Zahawi, who was Chancellor of the Exchequer, was rather careless over around £27 million and has had to pay £34.5 million to the HMRC (including a penalty of 30%).

I mean if someone with his access to professional accountants and advisors is unable to manage his own financial affairs, should he be anywhere near government?

Rather like a PM who was so careless with the truth he is still under investigation for allegedly misleading parliament.

Or the arch Brexiteer who predicted it would be 50 years for any benefits from Brexit appeared and promptly moved some of his financial firms activities to Dublin to avoid being negatively impacted by it!

Or the short lived Pm who apparently had the right ideas, but implemented them rather carelessly and crashed the economy.

Or the MP now suspended for anti vax comments, who was found by a court to have lied with regard to his involvement in a family business.

They are very careless these Tories aren't they? Thank goodness Corbyn wasn't in charge, just think of the mess the coutnry would be in...oh hold on a minute.

    .
I think in your excitement you have your numbers wrong, just a polite observation, (and id actually go further than you and suggest the word crooked rather than careless).

What I'd like to know is this... Lester Piggott got jailed for tax anomalies. So did Boris Becker and others. Why is Zahawi not facing any criminal charges on this?

We'd be a 3rd world country by now if Corbyn was in charge. But, yep, Zahawi should face the music.

A fair question. Certainly deselection by the constituency is needed - the good burghers of the land of Shakespeare should act. If that doesn't happen, then he should be stripped of high office

Not sure what Corbyn has to do with anything...not even a Labour Party member any more...but in the interests of balance here’s a list of Tory ‘cockups’, just off the top of my head, from the last couple of years.

Cummings, Elphicke, Johnson and his refurbished flat, Hancock, Johnson and Mustique, Owen Paterson, Andrew Griffiths, Imran Khan, Johnson and Lockdown parties, Johnson and Pincher, Truss and Kwarteng wrecking the economy, that MP watching po rn in Parliament, Raab’s bullying, Bridgen’s Covid claims, Zahawi’s tax ‘errors’, Sunak’s seatbelt, Johnson...the future BBC Chairman and the £800,000 loan guarantee....

So...carelessness, dishonesty, incompetence or a combination of all three. Not sure but we certainly deserve and need better.

We’d be being governed by the kind of twerps who waved the EU flag next to Corbin at Glastonbury without twigging that they should actually be voting that day

Ultimately the Rich seem to get away with it. (Apart from Becker which shocks me still).

Look at the likes of Ronaldo and Messi, both convicted criminals for being careless or whatever you want to call it when you try and avoid paying the tax you are supposed to. But they get away with it because like Zawahi the fine they get for getting caught is no punishment.

Yet if someone on benefits is 'careless' and ends up claiming more than they should have then chances are they get the book thrown at them.

Im not condoning anyone being 'careless' and people should be punished for being 'careless', but everybody equally and not let off because of wealth or status.

He was...but only flippantly because this seems to be the only comeback the current regime, and its supporters seem to have.... ‘think how bad it might have been under Corbyn!’

Well, I was never a fan, and it might have been bad...but would it really have been any worse than the state we find ourselves in today where virtually all the public sector is taking industrial action and we are governed by a Party that is virtually devoid of integrity, leadership and decency?
