Footballers under contract are sold all the time.

Yeh, we’re just about to sell one who’s under contract. Barlaser makes a solid impression at Boro and some other club may come in for him at anytime.

£900k (+ add ons) for Barlaser is an absolute give away. Middlesbro supporters calling it the steal of the century.

He's on a free in 6 months. 900k covers about 1/3rd of our losses if we go down from memory?

Where have you got that figure from? £1.5 million has been quoted elsewhere.
I'll pretty much guarantee the final fee will be "undisclosed" so we'll never actually know.

with 5mths until he his contract expires, anything over a £1m is a good deal. Even if he went for free in the summer, I think he wants to go back to the north-east, so would still choose Boro. What would his other options be NUFC, Sunderland, Hartlepool? Out of those only Boro is realistic option, as doubt he would play for Sunderland. Plus he would have benefit of being coached by Carrick.

Sooner have MT rather than Carrick who I watched last Sunday wasn't much coming from his dugout but Barlaser will be on double wages at least there so what's it matter.

If that's all we've got for the best midfielder in the Championship,we should have kept him.

    Confusing ain't it:

"Sky Sports say Middlesbrough are paying Rotherham £1.5m for the midfielder, Dan Barlaser swapping the club who are 20th in the second tier, for Boro who are currently sixth and in the play-off positions."
