Carlisle United v Barrow, Brunton Park, League Two, 7:45pm Tuesday January 31st

Barrow have not scored in 193 League Two minutes but 180 of those minutes were away to Leyton Orient and home to Northampton Town.

Let us hope their ineptitude in front of goal continues on Tuesday night.

I have a foreboding about this match. This will be our 3rd match in 8 days. This season whenever our team has
played 3 matches in 8 days it has lost either the 2nd or 3rd match.

As for Barrow, in their last away match they prevented Leyton Orient from scoring at Brisbane Road.

    Us

    7 th last 6 at home W5 D0 L1 F 9 A 4
    2 nd last 10 all W 6 D 2 L2 F 17 A 7

    Them

    17 th last 6 away W 1 D 3 L 2 F 5 A 10
    21 st, last 10 all W 3 D 3 L 5 F 8 A 15

    Their W12 D 4 L 11 leaves them in 9 th F32 A 32
    Compared to our W 13 D 9 L 5 F43 A 26

We would move into 3 rd with a draw or a win as Northampton not playing. They do appear however to a fairly easy February (judged on league position) although ours does not look too shabby with homes 4 and A 2 now thru end February. What we do in the next 6 games will be key to success this season.

Team. Possibly rest Dennis and put in Garner. My worry about Joe is his potential to get a red.

Crowd. If it had been a Saturday maybe 6,500 but I think it will be about 5,800 with 600 of them (although they sold 1,150 for the original fixture).

Bearing in mind that this is our third match in 8 days here is a list of the 8 players who played the full match against Hartlepool and the full match against Rochdale which was a contest for the entire match. They all played for all the time in both matches.

The weather forecast is that the lowest temperature in Carlisle between now and 10:00pm Tuesday will be 6 degrees centigrade.

The part of the pitch most vulnerable to freezing overnight and not recovering during the day can be covered by a state-of-the-art prototype fleece which can cope with a temperature as low as -5 degrees centigrade.

Almost 7,000 tickets had been sold by close of business yesterday.

There's no need for any measures to counteract frost or rain, the match is well on.
