    Extra incentive to sign.
Just thought as one contract finished the other one started.
Probably depends if new contract is better or worse. Say if we were relegated and offered a new contract on reduced terms, then likely that would start when old one ended.

If we trying to sign on better terms then likely it's because they are good and others interested. So if the new contract started after old one ended, then the player might as well hold out until end to see if someone else offers better terms.

The thing is... we have not replaced Dan Barlaser at all... because we only have a loan player with Coventry , he will go back to West Ham so come end of season we will be left with no one in his place !!

Was always gonna happen anyway, It's simple we get decent players and then some other club benefits from them when we've made them better ,that is exactly why we will always be a yo yo club and never a settled Championship club, that is why the top clubs remain top clubs and we will always remain a small club....may as well get used to the fact !!

We probably turned down the first couple of offers of £100,000 and then £200,000 but when they cam back and offered £200,001 that was too good to turn down ,and is why the undisclosed figure...because the club knows the fans would be less than happy with what they really got...which we all know will be far less than any other club around us would get ,we always sell cheap ,always have and always will ,nothing new with this sale either

All the very best Dan,you have been absolute class all the time you have been at the NYS.You have brought so much to our teams throughout this time and other players have benefitted from your undoubted skills. It would have been better, if we could have offered you a better deal earlier on but that is now history.I still think we will be alright but MT must be given funding for replacements,a priority now seems to be a left sided central defender.UTM.

What a sad individual you are, it must be a barrel of laughs in your house ? Who are these top clubs you allude too ?

We should be offering Rathbone a new contract now. Apparently discussions are under way but any new offer needs to apply well before his current contract ends or he's unlikely to sign.

18 months left on Rathbone - others being negotiated with as well.
Doesn't mean they can't leave if a reasonable offer comes in for them.
As Dan Barlaser came into his last 6 months and the January window moving on the club may have been slightly backed into a corner and ultimately it's the chairman's decision.
In an ideal world we would be bringing youngster's through and selling on at profit.
We don't live in an ideal world.
Barlaser deal may have been the best that could be negotiated plus you have to consider the welfare of the player if we had kept him and prevented him from going to a club that has a chance of being in the Premier next season.

He is near top of assist charts, but most of those are from beginning of the season. The last few weeks his performances started to drop off and he kept getting caught on the ball. His mind obviously being else where. Wonder if this is happening to some of the others with 6mths left.
