Jan23 A Good Windsor or bad widow so far ?

Dunno how we satisfy the new 2022/23 FA squad rule complexities ?
(Kinda of following on my 'many reasons' explaining transfers this season).

The recent ins, outs, loans & age juggling acts for FFP ticked all boxes.
So the current 'home-grown' players rule appears easy bypassed, even Arsenal don't have Saka listed in their Official squad of 25 as he's one of the U21 squad still.
Makes me think Gnonto is classed as U21 squad & home-grown apparently.

Still room in our 25 quota so maybe one Orgs or anyone can work on regarding who is listed as U21 squad now & which players are classed as home-grown etc as maths ain't in my bag first thing in mornings - only a cuppa.

The rules for PL squads ratio for 2022/23 season are rather silly & Orta is taking full advantage for sure of the FA current Squad rules below.

"Each squad contains no more than 17 players who do not fulfil the "Home Grown Player" (HGP) criteria. The rest of the squad (up to a total of 25 players) must be "Home Grown".
In addition to the club squad list there is an additional list of each club's registered Under-21 players who are eligible over & above the squad limit of 25 players.

A "Home-Grown Player" means a player who irrespective of nationality or age, has been registered with any club affiliated to The Football Association or the Football Association of Wales for a period (continuous or not) of three entire seasons, or 36 months, before his 21st birthday (or the end of the season during which he turns 21).

So my understanding is U21 players are eligible over & above the limit of 25 players per squad. Each player is assigned a squad number, which they wear during PL matches. For the 2022/23 campaign Under-21 players will have been born on or after 1 January 2001. Easy in it !

Correct u21 players don’t count towards the 25.
Been a better January window imo than we have had for ages. Wober looks like a good addition, Rutter seems to have a lot of talent (and coped fairly well in a though welcome away at Accies) and McKennie is a very solid player.

If Bamford is back fully fit and stays fit then we should have enough options up front but still baffled by the unwillingness to sign a dedicated left back.

Not sure what a "good Windsor" refers to (the royal family have a "mixed" record on being "good"!).

Not quite sure what to make of the incomings this window, and perhaps looking at the period that's been mentioned elsewhere, from Summer 2022 until now, allows a more holistic view to be taken? A LOT has been spent, more in such a period that ever before, and from what is rumoured to be still "bubbling under" it's not finished yet, so we're probably heading for close to £200m in a 6 month period (I suggested £125m, Hope said £150m, but that was two weeks ago). Some good, some not so good, and some where the jury is definitely still out (IMHO). Gnonto is a stand-out, but he needs to control his "enthusiasm"/temper or he will spend more time suspended than playing. Gyabi has shown some nice touches, but needs more game time to see if he can put real pressure on the likes of Roca for a place in the 1st team. Roca is vulnerable, he's too lightweight and like Aaronson is way to easy hussled off the ball, particularly given the positions both have been given. Kristensen is improving, but still has some clod-hopping first touches which is a shame because he has shown he can do better, just needs to be consistently good! Wober looks the business, although why we see him and others being switched in and out of LB is baffling, just let the guys settle! Sinisterra.......hmmmm.....worrying amount of injuries in a short space of time, and when he does play (e.g against Accrington) he shows a tendency to be greedy, sometimes sacrificing more certain scoring chances for team mates, needs to be worked on Jesse! Rutter.....sorry, but ditto Sinisterra, its early doors and he isn't (supposedly) match fit yet, but he wasn't "at the races" against Accrington, in the manner its reasonable to expect for a club record signing and his inability to "play for the team" instead of for Mr Rutter was fairly clear, again work for the coach.

The rest, nothing seen of them yet, we will see if this latest batch of youngsters fare any better than the last, many of whom have departed on loan, probably never to be seen playing for the 1st team again.

As you say time will tell - prepared to give Sinisterra the benefit of the doubt v Accrington as they all probably thought they could fill their boots and he had been out for ages.

Our passing was so poor to begin with maybe he thought he would never get it back 😎.

    Very good goal though.

    Thought Rutter did very well.

He created, showed awareness, fearless running with pace & used his intelligence well with regard to positioning.

There is a cartoon show on some streaming service called "The Prince". Never have seen it and someone I know that has says it's awful. However, there are some clips of the show floating around on the interwebs are they funny as can be in a sophomoric type of humor standpoint.

Think the window has been pretty good. Can't say the team isn't taking the threat of relegation very seriously based on the outflow of funds to sign these players. Wober is very good already. I think that Mckennie and Rutter will be big factors in the relegation battle. All you can ask for in the January tranfer window. Time will tell. If we offload Llorente for 18 million it will be a very, very good window. Just can't see that happening. Wober was less money and much better already.

We agree to differ, it was just one match, perhaps I'm expecting too much for a player that cost so much (and by the way that twitter page doesn't seem to exist (at least that's what Chrome is telling me))

Think we could have asked for a proper solid left back too 😎🙃
