Chelski and the farce of financial fair play.

Have bid £120m for a Benfica , but need to pay instalments to get round the rule.
This is after spending over £400m so far in January.

The joke is that if you’re rich and worth billions you can spend billions but other clubs with ambitions are not allowed to spend to anywhere near that level.

    It’s farcical.

This is why I like Brentford so much.

    Superb club.

A fat lot of good sticking to the rules has done us.
Before Abramovich Chelsea hadn't won as much as us.

I really do think that money has ruined the sport. I'm certainly not advocating a return to the days of the 60s and 70s when players were poorly paid and often struggled once their playing days were over, and I do understand that football is also a business as well as a sport, but the sheer amount of money swilling around the premiership and other top leagues is more damaging than not. The involvement of Sky Sports and mega rich owners has, I think, in many ways, been detrimental to the game as a whole. It has created a growing -and almost insurmountable-divide between the top, far wealthier, clubs and the rest and the amount of money involved has only encouraged greed and corruption.

As ever money talks and the wealthier clubs always seem to get away with things that others would not, but then this happens across all sections of life so maybe we should not be surprised.

We had already won five by then and been in ten finals.
