Swansea v Birmingham Sat 4 Feb 2023 15:00
After the shambles of a January Transfer Window where the team was inexplicably not strengthened, despite us being in with a good chance of reaching the play-offs, we move on.
It’s back to league action this weekend and a home game against lowly Birmingham.
We drew up there in November 2-2 with a late goal from Deeney rescuing a point for the Blues.
They come weary from a tough FA Cup tie defeat to Blackburn, with a replay, extra time and an own goal deciding the outcome, all since last Saturday.
For the Swans, a two week break should see the players fresh and eager for action.
With no new faces, will Whittaker’s recall from a successful loan at Plymouth see him reintegrated into the squad, or is he another one with his head not in the right place to play after Rangers failed transfer bid?
After Obafemi’s transfer to Burnley, what about his sidekick Paterson, who has also been in the naughty corner and out of favour after some poor displays and petulant behaviour? With him being available in January for transfer and no takers, will he now realise his career is on the line and knuckle down and show the form we know he’s capable of?
A lot of questions that we are about to find the answers to.
The Swans have to be favourites to win this one, but as we know, there are no easy matches in the Championship.
