Cheers Zip - good stuff.
at the Stand tomight.
Fantastic night with Alex Hurst, Charlotte Robson (blimey! ), George Caulkin, Criag Hope and Keith Downey.
Was good to hear some insights from people who actually know stuff from within the club and who aren't posting made-up shite for 'likes'.
Here are the take-aways from the evening-pick the bones out of this lot:
Shelvey wanted to go because of the contract Forest were offering-he's on more money for longer
Howe didn't really want to lose Chris Wood but Wood wanted the playing time PLUS he's on £40 grand more than he was here!!
We didn't want Jorginho, even though he was offered to us, because Howe felt he didn't have the legs for our style.
The class of defensive midfielder we were after wasn't available-we wanted top tier players
The mantra from the top is 'long term, long term, long term'
With the Gordon signing, we were at our FFP limit
Internally, the club, at the beginning of the season, were aiming for top 10
At this stage in our development, we are unlikely to go back in for Maddison this Summer and very unlikely to go for Tielemanns.
Moshiri wanted £60 million for Gordon but we got him by paying £40 million cash.
There is a documentary about the club on the way/in the works.
Cheers Zip - good stuff.
Oh, sorry, forgot one thing.
Howe feels he's been left short after this window. Came across as a frustration that we weren't able to add to midfield rather than a dissatisfaction, if that makes sene. And in terms of attacking midfielders, we wanted Gordon in the Summer and the feeling is very much that we would go for either Gordon or Maddison so Maddison is a lot less likely now because of that, too.
Because he'll be at his peak, the club think Maddison will be priced too high for us to go for him in the Summer-partly because they won't be forced into overpaying but, also, because of the limits of ffp. Tielemanns, although free in the Summer, will be on ridiculous wages.
There was talk about the club preferring-at this atage-to buy a talent like Bruno for £30 odd million and sell him for £80 million because Howe has improved him
Cheers for those Zip.
That's impressive from Woods agent to get him an additional £40k more than he's on here to be honest.
