Did EFL do us a favour?

Despite the terrace chanting, should we give a **** anyway? Who knows if the current squad, heroes though they are, would have survived in the Championsip, or for that matter if we’d have been stuck with last years squad (again heroes but that away record speaks volumes). Personally I’m enjoying watching us more than I have for a while and couldn’t actually give a toss who we are putting five past. Promotion is a realistic hope and it’d be supremely ironic if EFL facilitated an open top tour round what’s left of our city

Should we ‘thank’ them, especially also knowing what a bloody mess MM got us into?

I actually believe Andy, that if you had gone down when you should, (ie instead of Wycombe), then your suffering would have been a lot less. MM's meddling cost even more in the long run.

No, the EFL were complicit with MMs wrong doings, they were more than happy to sanction them before changing their minds. They also allowed other clubs to take action against us, absolving themselves of any responsibility.
All thanks goes to Clowes, Rosenior, Warne, and these players for a wonderful season to date, and even having a club at all.

I suppose you could look at it that way, same as if your mate stepped in and persuaded you not to have that month of passion on an island paradise with Margot Robbie because once it was over you would be very upset that it was over and never to be repeated...so yeah thanks for that.

Indeed, believe him or not i dont know but Mel has said on record that a sale of the club was lined up but fell through because of the EFL spurious charges over the sale of the stadium. The charges over the valuation of the players, despite previously being accepted, were only thrown in at the last minute as they probably realised that comparing PP with Morecambes stadiums as evidence wasnt going to stick.

Rick Parry even admitted they only came after Derby because of the threat of legal action from Middlesbrough. No way to run an organisation .We were found totally innocent and they still maintained their witch hunt and even when the result of the appeal was released it stated we had still done nothing wrong, the only issue they had was that the paper work could have been clearer. The fine was just 100k for this. The EFL should have accepted this but because of the threat from elsewhere retrospectively applied the new rules around player valuations, and for some reason we couldnt appeal even they they were allowed to appeal the original findings.

Mel of course was not blameless in this and his actions once it was obvious it his actions in going incognito and then placing us in admin were despicable and cowardly, but the treatment of Derby by the EFL was appalling for an organisation that pretends to be trying to protect the clubs, the league and the game.
