How far the mighty have fallen, what an FN shocking record at Tannadice against a side we once swotted away like an annoying fly.
Great news if McGrath is back
Birighitti
Smith Mulgrew Graham
Freeman Sibbald Levitt Behich
Middleton Fletcher McGrath
Come on United!!!
343 has not worked. If we are going to continue with 3 at the back, we've got to go to a 352 to get an extra body in midfield, to avoid being overrun, and also to give Levitt the chance to create. He can't defend to save himself, so let's not ask him to.
Would also allow another forward to be within 30 yards of Fletcher, to potentially strike up a partnership and maybe even be central enough to get on the end of one of the countless knock ons he provides in every game. We're probably the only team in the premiership who would be daft enough to isolate a 36 year old striker who is brilliant in the air. Get someone close to him. The wing backs would be able to push on and get crosses into the box, as the extra central midfielders could provide cover when they go forward. This pish with Middleton and another neither upfront nor wide, hanging about in no man's land is horrific, and provides zero threat.
With the suggestions above I dont believe we are allowed to start with 18 players on the park.
Middleton either has no confidence or is total mince, failed to produce as expected or when needed (sadly like so many) and has become a hider.
Too many players leave the park the same as after a sunday stroll having given next to no effort. On the rare occasion they leave breathing through their erses we take a point or have a show worthy of United.
Yep agree midfield must first and foremost protect the defence. Best options we seem to have is Djoum and Sibbald. Levitt AM to link up to front 2 rather than expecting him to tackle, don't understand if he is asking to be deep.

Smith Mulgrew Graham
Sheep Djoum Sibbald Behich
Levitt
Fletch Sadat
Would like to see Sadats pace partner Fletcher and later in the game make positive sub of switching Fletcher with Middleton or McGrath keep some relative experience up top to partner a MacLeod
If Levitt tires Cudjoe on for some unpredictability. All ideally done before 75th minute if chasing the game
Middleton looks knackered by about 70 mins most matches, but seems to stay on the park, take him off after 65-70 mins and give someone an actual chance to get involved in the game. Fox clearly doesn't rate our bench however, which make a bit of a mockery of the supposed strength our squad.
