For the sake of the Scots, let us hope her successor succeeds where she failed and finally gains them independence.

Let's face it... who in their right mind would want to be ruled by those corrupt lying Conservative ba****ds in Westminster.

Maybe deep down she did not want independence and was popular because she was saying things that they the people wanted to hear like all mps do.Now if it comes that they get independence she would have been in charge and cant blame the english government, its about taking responsability and she would have been first in the firing line and thought no thank you because i cant blame anyone else, just a thought.

It is an interesting thought Sandpit.

However bearing in mind that only 25% of the country (Scotland) voted Conservative at the last General Election and latest opinion polls (YouGov, 23rd - 26th of January 2023) suggest current voting intentions are down as low as 15%, something surely has to give at some stage.

Under Sturgeon the SNP has made its primary aim almost its total focus and thus not done all that well for Scotland in the here and now issues.
Sturgeon was popular. But the likelihood of independence has lessened during her tenure. The next leader probably will not be as popular.

From a high level of electoral success the SNP are due something of a diminished electoral success, remaining successful but less so. The Conservatives will gain nothing from this. But Labour could gain 25 Scottish seats in the next UK General Election.

Bearing in mind how unpopular they now are outside their racist right wing base, I can't believe the Conservatives are not campaigning for English independence.

That would seem to be their best chance of future electoral success.

Having "got Brexit done" and significantly diminished the UK's position in the world, is that not the next logical step?

There is not an infinite supply of oil under Scottish waters. When it has all been used up an independent Scotland would be bankrupt. In any event the population of the whole planet is moving towards the increasingly well developed greener sources of power, making the last of the Scottish oil (which will be expensive to get at) almost worthless.

Plenty of wind and tides up there though.

    I reckon they'll be OK.
