3 points but not a great watch

3 points in the bag but hardly a classic so let's cheers ourselves up with a few positives and the odd negative for good measure.
    Positives:
3 points is always a positive,no matter how they come.
Pears has grabbed that number 1 shirt with both hands.
From on the verge of a Portsmouth loan to a very competent championship keeper.
Hayden carter really is a fantastic prospect and in a back 2 or 3,doesn't look out of place.
    I am struggling for another.
    We didn't lose.

    Negatives:
    The same old midfield woes.
1 week Buckley is **** then replaced by morton, who is then also ****.
A position that needs addressing in the summer.
    Diaz or Gallagher?
Doesn't really matter as both look massively out of sorts.
Another position that needs addressing in the summer.

We have lost one game since xmas. Just got 2 massive away points away at 2 very hard places to get anything from. We look really solid. Our defence is strong. If we had spent the £50m Burnley had and had a goal scorer we would be top. That's all we are lacking. We spent just £1.75m and are sat on the same points as 5th place. We are doing very well. Not really sure what fans expect.

500 k for brittain and 3 million for szmodics but totally get where you are coming from.
We have quite a small budget and a very young squad,so to be outside the play offs on goal difference,is a good achievement.

No matter what a Burnley fan will tell you, its almost impossible not to get promoted in the division where the whole league apart from 3 relegated clubs has no money. And the 3 relegated teams receive £147m over 3 seasons. Yes, they sold a few players. But the likes of Tella who they spent a fortune on just to get on loan and his wages are massive. He isn't a Champ player. Not one side in the Champ could afford that. He is miles better than anyone at this level. They have about 10 loan signings like that. They just signed Obefaemi from Swansea. We could not afford him a few seasons ago. They just signed him to sit on the bench.
If we had a goalscorer, if we could afford one, we would likely be much higher than 5th. We would very likely get promoted. And thats if we had the chance to spend around £2/3m on one player. But almost all sides at this level have their hands tied financially.
Hence me saying, its not great achievement to go up if you have just been relegated. That's why Fulham, Watford, Norwich, WBA, and now Burnley will be another, go up, then come down and walk this league. Then go up and get battered most weeks (*with the odd exception). Loads of clubs do it. None of them are anything special, they just have about £50/80m more than us to spend on players. Which at our level means they will be about 20 odd points higher than us in the league. The rest of the league is pretty much of the same ability from top to bottom, and being honest, the standard is woefully poor.
Burnley have done well to bring in some great young players. No doubt. The rest of the league have their hands massively tied and are unable to compete with you on even trying to get hold of any of these great players.

But hear what I am saying. Burnley are a very good side for this level. With a really good manager. They have some really good players for the level they play at who are probably a bit too good for this level, and should not be down here. They did have to move a load of older guys on who would nit have been right to play down here, and bring in a young fresh set of players. When your buying you top talent from the Prem league to play in a league down from that standard, you will bot go far wrong. Thats why Fulham, Watford, Norwich, WBA, and now Burnley have been yo-yoing between the 2 leagues for years now. Because of the major financial flaw the EFL & the Prem League have created.

our turn over is £1.75m after all the players we let go, like our captain Lenhian, Rothwell etc etc ect.
We have 3rd lowest turn over in the league. We have spent the 4 lowest amount in the league on a couple of small transfers.

Personally, to be way above most of the division including Watford and Norwich is a huge achievement at this stage of the season.

if you factor in the astronomical wages wages the likes of Tella (the highest paid player in the Champ) that takes Burnley's spending to over £50m.
That £50m is more than ALL the Champ sides put together Alf. Let that sink in .........

I'm happy to live with that Champs..I would say Rovers would do the same if in the same position as us..Just as an aside Champs, what are the Venkys putting in to Rovers nowadays, it all seems to have gone quiet about them.

Its no slant on what is happening at Burnley. Its just you are part of a very flawed system. You would feel exactly the same about us if it was the other way round. If we failed miserably to stay up in the Prem, and got rewarded for that failure which put our club on a completely different financial level to anyone else in the league you are playing, you would remind us.
Like how every single Burnley fan reminds us every single day about how we bought the league title in 1995 (despite Man Utd spending more than us that season). It does not take away our win, its just your attempts to discredit that achievement. We all live with that, and its fine, much the same as now. You got to where you did because of the financial situation you are in.
Its very hard for a relegated side not to walk this league. As Norwich, Fulham, WBA, Watford, Bournemouth and now you are finding every season you are down here.
We are in debt to Venky's at the tune of over £220m. Like all of the Championship clubs, none of us are actually allowed to spend money or compete with the relegated sides due to FFP. That's why you see well over half the division below have spent £0. If you add up all the other non promoted sides you will see they don't tally up to what Burnley's spending is, if you added them all together. Even then, you will see many clubs not even spending £1m on one player.
The FFP rules have killed the game in this country. The likes of Chelsea and Man City cheat, and are allowed to carry on cheating. Almost all our league cant even compete with the likes of Burnley and the other relegated clubs.
Venkys want to put money in, but like all the other owners at this level, they can't.

    1 Burnley FC €38.20m
    2 Watford FC €18.81m
    3 Norwich City €14.40m
    4 Hull City €11.50m
    5 Middlesbrough FC €10.23m
    6 Sunderland AFC €6.06m
    7 Sheffield United €4.50m
    8 Millwall FC €2.50m
    9 Swansea City €2.30m
    10 Luton Town €2.12m
    11 Blackburn Rovers €1.75m
    12 Birmingham City €1.75m
    13 Huddersfield Town €1.52m
    14 West Bromwich Albion €1.35m
    15 Cardiff City €655k
    16 Blackpool FC €350k

these clubs below did not spend anything on fee's or transfers -

    17 Preston North End
    18 Stoke City
    19 Bristol City
    20 Coventry City
    21 Reading FC
    22 Queens Park Rangers
    23 Wigan Athletic
    24 Rotherham United
