I started donating when I was 18, and transferred to Leeds, when my job took me up there. When I moved back to South Yorkshire, I donated at Maltby, and then through work, when they started to arrange sessions. Unfortunately, shortly after I received mg gold badge I needed a quadruple bypass, and thereafter I could no longer donate. A most worthwhile cause, it is painless, takes just a few minutes, and a potential lifesaver. And as you get older, the chances of needing a donation get bigger. So you know it makes sense, get on with it.

Bramley I'm 66 and there are older donors than me, it may be 65 for a newbie but i'd check.

Up to 70 year old BramleyMiller to start giving blood, then you can give blood for longer,
I am 72 in June, & I am booked in for the Wath-on-Dearne session this month.
I have been giving blood for donkey's years.
    Get yourself booked in.

Cheers, I'll give them a ring. Not a total newbie, donated years ago but somehow lost touch with them

Brammers heres the full SP on donating pal

What is the blood donor age limit?

Blood donor age limit is scrapped. The age limit on blood donations was raised from 65 to 70 in 1998. An age limit was put in place as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of the donor, but recent evidence from other blood services has shown no harm to donors over the age of 70.

So keep on giving and pumping!!

NB. Oops!! Sorry just seen ELK's post.
