The thing is though that where did Lineker make equivalence between the migrants situation and the holocaust like the Tories are implying? What he did say was that the policies being currently implemented are equivalent to Germany in the 30s. Which last time I remember was many years before the actual ‘Final Solution’. So in other words, Lineker is making similarities between the build up to what ended up in the holocaust, not the actual event. And there is a difference here. The Tories are trying to say he has made a DIRECT link between their current immigration policy and the holocaust. He has done nothing of the sort.

Not content with dominating print media what we have seen over the last few years of Tory rule is an attempt to move broadcast media further to the right. Licenses given to GB News, Rupert Murdoch's Talk TV and attempts to privatise Channel 4 which its news output often seen as a thorn in the side of the Government. Boris Johnson also tried to install Paul Dacre as head of Ofcom and Charles Moore as Chairman of the BBC. When that failed we got another big Tory donor instead in to the job. The level of manipulation and corruption is staggering.

What a state the BBC have got themselves in here, all by listening too much to one political party. Now, for me, that seems like a beach of their impartiality. Former BBC DG has said he doesn't think Lineker has breached their rules.

What next, if David Attenborough has something to say about government environmental policy, does he get cancelled?

Yes, one of his shows in his next series is being punted onto Iplayer only, because it's content might upset the tories and assorted gammons

But not really then, he's still on the BBC but yeah, the whole thing is messed up. I think the EPL are probably taking a very dim view of all this too. Wouldn't be surprised if the BBC lose the highlights rights next time and all these folk end up going to whoever does get it (ITV maybe)...

No, he didn't make any reference to the Holocaust - this is deliberate hyperbole by the rabid right wing tories and their supporters. Apart from anything else, was the holocaust the only bad thing that Nazi Germany did? Are we happy to accept everything else they did?
