My wider concern is I am half expecting a rick every time there is any pass back to Pope… and I know the only way to get over that (for Pope as much as everyone else) is to build his (and everyone else’s) confidence during games, but that should be done when there is less pressure and no players quite as close.
I would say Pope has had such a great season that he also has enough credit in the bank to cover his two mistakes? As we know a keeper’s mistake is often punished with a goal.

Seems to be ok to question Pope’s mistakes but not Botman’s. (I’m not directing this just at you). It’s a discussion/comment and not a case of ‘having a go’ at a player. All players have areas to improve.

I think that Botman’s weakest area is passing out from defense. He’s the weakest of our defenders at this. He is the best at marking and one on ones by a mile, however.

I think most people would agree that Pope is weakest with the ball at his feet, and this has been said about him throughout his career.

I agree he has been outstanding, and has more than enough credit to his name, but didn’t mention that because I’m not knocking Pope, just pointing out that we seem to be putting him in situations where that weakness will get taken advantage of.

I think we should help build up that aspect of his game, and ultimately that has to be during actual games and not just training, but last night the ball should have been booted, not just a cute little pass that went horribly wrong.

I would disagree with the comment about his passing out of defence. Some of his long range passing is spot on, if anything it’s his short pass which puts the player under pressure, but overall I’m happy with his passing.
