    Harrison and Ayling

Both blown a bit hot and cold recently but ever credit to them for their performance yesterday and determination to keep playing; Harrison smacked in the snout in the first half, still bleeding 15 minutes later but carries on. Stitches in his leg at half time, cuts to his foot and right hand trampled and cut. AYling similar, very lucky to not have his leg broken and not that long ago has his nose broken but carried on with the game. Some players would still be rolling down the pitch after the smack Ayling got.

Ayling gives his all every game. Not sure if it's our defensive alignment but he gets torched all the time from the other teams switching to ball down the line. Firpo is not much better. They are both slower than the speedy wings they face most games. What I can't figure out is if Gracia has that as part of the defense. Koch, Wober, Adams and Roca has been good picking it up.

Harrison also gives his all when he's on his game. He's rather inconsistent at times. I think for him it's mental as he obviously is very blessed physically and he's in his athletic prime.

Good article, and seems to have come in large part "straight from the horses mouth" instead of the pundit/commentator putting words in Harrisons mouth.

Harrison does this all the time has a run of 7/8 games where you think he could play for England then 10/12 where he looks like he'd struggle to get into a Championship side.

Ayling, again same old with him and been saying it since we got promoted, he simply can't defend (usually) anyone with pace and skill but generally his work going forward and his effort make up for it.

I've backed Harrison before against the general consensus on here. Thats fine we all have opinions. Harrison has plenty of quality. Wingers are in and out of games at any level.
Playing in a moderate at best Leeds team doesn't help him shine every game.
Ayling is a good player but age is catching up a little bit. Tough call between him and Rasmus. But he's doing a decent enough job in general imo. Not sure how convinced people are that replacing Ayling would ensure we get a better RB.

Not a single player in any PL team is stellar every match, and as Sniffer points out in post #8, Harrison ISN'T playing in a team full of superstars. If he was, he might struggle, but he might also shine because those around him are capable of bringing out the best in him. We don't have that, and to expect other than the patchy performance is just nonsense. His contributions, this season and previously, have been as fundamental to our PL success/survival as ANY other player and he should be applauded for that if nothing else. Let's see Rutter, Sinisterra and others justify the vastly inflated fees the club has paid before we do Harrison down.
