    Elliot Anderson

Made a difference in that second half. He's got more to his game than Maxi at the moment and seemed to be more involved as a team player as opposed to going on solo runs and losing it.

in fact, he completed more successful dribbles than any other player on Friday night and he was only on for half the game.

This isn't a dig at Maxi, by the way-I'm a big fan of his but, in a similar way to Wilson, there's a rabbit off at the minute. It could be niggling injuries, it could be he's having to adapt to a more team-orientated, less lone-maverick role, maybe he's struggling against thhe plans opposing teams aren putting in place to cope with him...maybe it's a mix of all of those.

For me, though, Anderson offered enough to start on that left side against Man U. Eddie has two weeks to work with him before that game, too.

Is that unfair on Maxi? Am I putting too much stock in his performance against Forest?

    Thoughts?

I have to agree. Anderson popped up in various dangerous positions across the front line, for example when he made a great run for a through ball and slipped - remember? Big shame that because he was through for a one on one.
Maxi does swap sides occasionally but is usually glued to the left side touch line and as such is more predictable than Anderson.
Maxi needs to receive the ball in forward positions (and then we enter the Burn/Targett debate). For me Anderson starts the next game but I don’t think he will, especially with big Joe back.

    I'd agree as well.

I think he deserves to start to.

However, like toptoon, I don't think he will.

What is nice is we have a manager that is bringing him on gradually and slowly bringing him in, not just throwing him in and hoping for hte best.

He was class when he came on & was robbed of his goal.

The impacted made was notable and should have earnt him a start.

It's at home so that's a plus for him however it's the Red filth.

Matty Long scored against them maybe Anderson will do the same as we put them to the sword avenging our disappointing cup final defeat

Thought Anderson played well when he came on, certainly better than he has done in previous appearances, but dont believe that warrants a start...just yet.

i'd expect Joelinton to start against Man Utd, as Eddie knows that he'll work his socks off, and we'll likely be a little more cautious against them.

On Maxi i think we wont see the best of him until Targett/new LB plays behind him, as he's basically facing up to two players each time he receives the ball, without the overlapping full back. Whether that will happen remains unseen, as i wouldnt be suprised if he's sold in the summer to fund new players, and Eddie just doesnt seem to fancy Targett anyway

He fancied Targett when he first signed, but we didn’t have Burn then.
