Regrettably poor Cashin has dropped off recently, today he was found to have the pace of Rob Hindmarch without the positional sense to make up for it. Not that anyone shone

Thought both NML and Forsyth were particularly poor today. Not as bad as the ref and linesmen mind. Lots of play acting from Ipswich today. Few things I want to see back, I thought we could have got a draw with a bit more luck

Something horribly inevitable about today although we do seem to have been undone by the officials.
We’re still not out of it by any means but it’s becoming a head v heart thing. My heart tells me we want to go up...my head suggests that maybe in twelve months time with some more acquisitions and a full pre season under Warne we’re more likely to be in the position Ipswich find themselves in today...i.e likely to achieve automatic promotion.

At least the lino admitted they cheated, doesn't help though.

Lets be realistic, Ipswich have been in this division for 4 seasons and not finished higher than 9th in any of them. They are operating with a squad built up over that time (not 5 weeks) and without the financial restrictions Derby have.

Its miraculous we are even in the top 7 of this league!

Yesterdays game, Ipswich have some quality and pace up front and that unsettled our defence, but if we had not had that goal disallowed the game and the mental confidence of Derby would have changed and there is every likelihood we could have got at least a draw.

What has cost us in the past few games has been not taking chances, goals change games and our fire power hasn't been good enough despite McGoldrick's heroics.

AS for whether we "want" to go up, of course we do, you take promotion every time, then the squad building is for a different league. But it was always an outside chance this year.

Outplayed for 10 minutes. Got into it for 3. They counter and score. Why did Smith seem to totally ignore Chaplin? Why did he choose to go towards a ball he was never ging to get and leave Chaplin in a dream position? After 30 minutes we got into it and played well for the rest of the half.

2nd half we played well. Looked dangerous without really being so, until Cashin nodded home only for the assistant ref to tell the ref he'd seen a foul.... he hadn't and later admitted he was wrong. That goal stands and you've got a totally different game on your hands. A draw or a win may well have been on the cards. They get another counter goal. Why was Smith ambling back rather than sprinting? When he eventually did decide he maybe should have been running rather than dawdling it was too late. 0-2. Played OK the rest of the game but to no avail.

Ipswich are good and are now on 7 wins on the bounce with 0 goals against. No disgrace losing to them but it was so unnecessary. Goals on the counter seem to becoming a habit. We need to rearrange to stop conceding them.

Hate to sound like a broken record but the ref wasn't at all good again and this time it was one of his assistants who pointed out the ghost foul that saw our goal disallowed. Having said that, another ref may have red carded Cash instead of a yellow. The penalty shout when Knight went down was rightly turned down. When Chaplin went down in our box and claimed a penalty should have seen him yellowed for diving. Didzy's yellow was correct as was White's, less sure about Smith's which was, IMO, debatable as a foul. They had 2 booked for time wasting, too little, too late. Clarke might have had a 2nd as well but was let off by the ref and then subbed off to avoid a second. He was off the pitch when he saw he was to be subbed off and should have stayed off and walked round the pitch back to the dugout. Instead he he wandered back onto the pitch at the North end and then took his sweet time walking almost up to halfway, turning right and heading, nice and slowly, to the dugout....

Playoffs are still a possibility but not a great one as we appear to have the hardest of the run-ins. Average League position of our opponents being higher than those of our rivals. If we make the playoffs great. Idem ditto if we win them. IMO we are in profit on the season. My forecast was midtable and anything better would be a welcome bonus. It's bonus time.

What happened when two of their players went down 'injured' in the first half? Obviously a clear ploy to slow things down as we were getting on top, but is there a rule that if the trainers come on to treat two players that neither go off?

The number 10 didn't even go anywhere near the edge if the pitch, the other appeared as though he was going to go off but was on the pitch when play resumed. Is it a rule or was it another sign of pure incompetence from the officials?

Players who have received treatment should leave the field of play, unless that is, the "perpetrator" has received a yellow/red card for the tackle or the injured player is the keeper.

Well that's my understanding, why didn't the ref know this rule.
