    Can’t pay…. Can’t play

That’s my view the EFL should bring in as a rule for next season, where clubs bring players in and then can’t afford to pay for them . An embargo serves no purpose as these clubs have the players they wanted so an embargo means nothing.

Take any club as an example. They are/have defaulted on paying for a certain player but, still play him. They are gambling on the fact they get to the Premiership and grab the rewards of £160 Million + that will wipe out their debts.

It’s totally wrong and should not be allowed. Default on a payment and that player should be stood down until all debts are cleared. That will make an owner think twice before taking something on they clearly can’t afford.

Make that £969 million ,surely it's only a matter of time before a "big" club goes tits up.

Its about time the FA & EFL stopped the instalment process, surprising how many
clubs in the premier league owe instalments to championship clubs.
If they don't pay upfront, they don't get the player, should be the rule.

We have now the situation for example where Sheffield United owe money on a
instalment plan to Liverpool Fc, which is a championship side owing money, but
    have not kept up payments.

ELK, I was going to use Sheffield United as an example but you’ve done if anyway. Yes a farce with the embargo as they have the player…. then again he is terrible and boy have Liverpool had the Blades pants down on that one! A £23 million flop!

It doesn't matter how much money you owe as long as you pay the interest and service the debt, the Glaizers have followed this model before and cover the debt with the final sale, obviously the money they make by owning the club, is profitable when compared to servicing the debt, I would suspect it requires being in the champions league most seasons.

Anyone who has ever taken out a mortgage on a house has done exactly the same except on a smaller scale.
