I'm ok with this, did a good job with Alloa, and with St Mirren, found wanting at the top level? It will be some time before we are top level. He came in with little room to manoeuvre and made a fist of it, only to be let down by a squad with a soft underbelly.

Total rebuild on the cards, with limited cash. Good luck Jim, most Arabs will give you a chance and solid backing. I just hope we don't sack him if he takes time to shape is team next season. We deserved to go down not his fault!

Good we have a swift decision.

Hopefully starting xi reflects looking to future tomorrow.

Hope he swiftly moves for identified targets and gets a few "by mutual consent" departures from dross not out of contract and operation rebuild gets off to a swift start.

Get behind Goodwin now to shape a team capable of competing (winning the Fundesliga next season I see as an unlikely scenario) and consolidating before a push to get back up.

Be intetesting if the chairman will fund a promotion push or not. Thats the next question.

Lets look it at it this way. Would you rather Goodwin at us or Dundee next season 🤔

    I’m happy with the appointment!
We need stability, and the best pre-season preparation possible. That will now happen under Goodwin, BUT also depends on what finances are made available, and wages freed up from those departing.
If we had changed manager, a month at least would have been lost, if not more, and a risk of a new manager keeping some of those Charlatans to prove themselves. Also, any new signings would be delayed, and so similar to last year, would be badly prepared as the season actually started.

I'd be pretty surprised (or would I?) If the budget for next season hasn't been set out and agreed already with JG for dropping a division. I say that given he's happy to take the job so early. I guess it now depends on who stays and who goes with regard to the players he can bring in.

Harkes, Edwards, Mulgrew, Watt, Pawlett, Freeman, Niskanen, Anaku and McMann for starters please.

    But honestly wouldn't miss anyone

What kind of team do we want to be and what type of football will we play?

I think our problem (not helped with such a high churn of managers) is partly that we aren’t sure of our brand of football.

In Scotland I reckon you either have the resources to be a ball-playing outfit or don’t and largely operate hoofball/hatchet tactics. We have fallen in between the 2 and guess what…fallen right through the crack.

Not sure what Goodwin’s preferred style is? I know what he was as a player, but is that who he is as a manager? Honestly don’t know…up until he became our gaffer I’d never really paid any attention to how he set his teams up.

Not sure we will have much choice next season tho given the league/teams we will face….ugly!
