    Sean Maguire signs

Carlisle United are delighted to confirm that forward Sean Maguire has become summer signing number eight this morning, and he joins the Blues on a one-year deal.

Maguire, 29, is an Irish international who has netted once in his 12 appearances for his country.

After beginning his career at Waterford United, in Ireland, he moved to West Ham United in 2013. His spell with the Hammers included loans with Sligo Rovers and Accrington Stanley.

He was with Dundalk and Cork City after parting company with West Ham in 2015. A stunning run of 54 goals in 74 games for Cork earned him a move back across the water, where he joined Preston North End in 2017.

His first Championship season saw him score 10 goals in 24 games, and the striker has gone on to make 170 appearances in all competitions for North End.

He signed for Coventry City last January and made seven appearances.

Let’s hope his legs are still up to it.
