Realistically we are now 5th, possibly 6th. Stevenage and Bradford City each have a game in hand on us. Those specific games are :-

Tue 25th April Swindon Town v Stevenage, the 44th match for both.

Wed 3rd May Crewe Alexandra v Bradford City, the 45th match for both.

Stevenage will not lose at Swindon Town and Bradford City can win at Crewe Alexandra.

Scoring in only one of our last six matches indicates that not only will we finish below third but also that we cannot anticipate a successful play-off campaign, if we get enough points to be in the play-offs.

Based on the above data the result will be :-
    Carlisle United 0 - ? Northampton Town

If we win we will become 2nd if our win is by 1 goal more than the Stockport winning margin, or if Stockport do not win.

If we lose we could drop to 6th place, with 4th and 5th having a game in hand on us and we could be only 2 points clear of 8th placed Mansfield, who will have a game in hand on us.

This season in 7 matches against Leyton Orient, Northampton Town, Stockport County and Stevenage we have got 2 points.

When we finish 7th the consequence will be that in the Play-Off Semi-Final we shall face the 4th placed team, one of Northampton Town, Stockport County, or Stevenage. From our 5 matches against those three this season we have now got 2 points. We shall almost certainly lose in the Play-Off Semi-Final against any of those three teams.

Given the overall condition of the financial and physical infrastructure of the club 7th would be a remarkable achievement.
