    Longstaff

I know he's not everyone's favourite but we really missed him today.

No, he's not the long-term answer but he's been an absolutely key component in our success, imo.

Our best midfield is him, Bruno and Joelinton and I think Bruno, in particular, missed him.

Lol. He is underrated and contributes a lot more than given credit for.
I read he was unwell this week and didn’t train much as a result, hence the reason he didn’t start today.

There is a reason why Howe has played Longy in every single match apart from today. Today we found out what that reason is.

For all those who dislike the guy or think he's sh!te today you saw what he brings to our midfield by not being in it.

The Lad is low key class

I know what you mean. A bit like McTomanay in Man U’s team. Everyone thinks he’s sh*te but he starts every game.

I've been one of his biggest critics but you may be right. We were missing something in midfield yesterday. Bruno looked off it, despite some lovely passes. Joelinton wasn't at his best. Willock was very quiet.

We lacked energy, and Longstaff always brings that.

We need a quality holding mid in the summer

We do, so that Bruno can be freed up to get forward more.

Plus, if you look at what 3 games in a week has done to us-first half at Brentford then culminating in yesterday's game-we need quality additions to the bench/whole squad and not just the first team. Eddie Howe has performed miracles with this squad but playing in Europe will give us a lot more of those 3 game weeks.

Bruno is nursing a minor ankle injury so he's not 100%. Longy shields him a lot. When he's gone he is missed, big time!

Longstaff also wins a lot of free kicks, at important moments when we need to regroup.

Will be interesting to see Eddie’s team v spurs. I think he might play Targett, and Burn at centre back, for Botman, Botman has been immense for us,but he’s still young and might be ready for some time out, it’s a bit risky, but sometimes things have to be done after that performance on Sat. Longstaff to return, could he contemplate resting Bruno, who is carrying an injury? All speculation but this is what Eddie gets paid for, I wouldn’t like to have to make the decisions,I have confidence that whatever he decides I’m happy with, he’s the boss lol

Longstaff protects Bruno alot and the sheer amount of running he does worries other teams.

    We missed that.
