The road up the side of Campy would've been a problem and would've needed widened along its whole length to allow buses to pass an to add a decent footpath. That would've cost as much as the phantom stadium / retail park / crematorium / housing estates was supposed to have been costing at the time. And it would have involved multiple councils which would never have worked - Angus would have had no interest whatsoever.

There was a Scottish Office plan in 1997 to construct a bypass of Dundee from the Swallow roundabout across to the rear of Templeton woods and along the foothills of the Sidlaws to Tealing.
This would have been an ideal solution with the Kingsway reverting to its original purpose not the main road from Glasgow and Edinburgh to Aberdeen.
However it never happened and it will be lying in a office in Edinburgh gathering dust.

Building the large housing estate at Dykehead of Gray near Liff will have scuppered the original route of this bypass.

It's not like it's all done on a desk, it would be a matter of inputting info into a computer program and reading the results.
When I heard this latest excuse from Nelms for not having his planning application for Campy Nou ready to submit to Dundee City Council it gave me the impression that it suits Nelms to continually dream up excuses to avoid submitting his full planning application.
The planning experts hired by the directors of Dark Blue Property Holdings Limited should have advised everything that requires to be submitted in the full planning application form prior to submitting it to Dundee City Council.
I would not be surprised if there is another Pre Application Notice meeting for Campy Nou held in September 2027 assuming that Tim Keyes has not lost interest in Dundee Football Club Limited and sold his shareholding to another interested party.

From memory when I was king of the community council I'm pretty sure the road was gonna be just south of kirkton of auchterhouse and north of dronley woods.....cud be wrong though.

Never thought it likely and was just something the Scottish govt threw out to consultation but with no real desire to even attempt to get it thru planning.

A bypass cutting through some of the best land and natural scenery in ( if no Scotland ) certainly the east coast.

Always wondered if it would be better taking a rd from Perth to Aberdeen and taking Dundee out the equation altogether....probably no.

I do not remember seeing any plans. All I saw was a small article in the Courier about the possibility of a bypass round the back of Dundee and along the foothills of the Sidlaws to Tealing.

The original main road from Perth to Aberdeen went through New Scone and then through Coupar Angus, Meigle, to Forfar where it joined the A90 to Aberdeen.
