We should consider ourselves lucky that Orta has departed, otherwise we would be announcing the £24M signing of Ivan Toney on loan for 8 months.
Banned for 8 months from today for breaking betting laws 232 times. Funny how they have announced this so late in the season..hmmm
Should have been given a much longer sentence, more like a week for each bet which would have been
232 weeks = 4yrs 6months.

Is there anywhere that has reported on the types of bets he was involved with?
Obviously, it’s a very slippery slope if you’re somehow betting against the performance of your own team when you’re actually playing, but all forms of betting are, well, fundamentally a bit dodgy, at least in my humble opinion?
50:1 Shades of grey and all that…
Probably unconnected, but I know you can bet on such idiotic stuff that include such things as taking spread bets on the time of the first throw-in.
Watch the next few games. I may be being overly cynical, but…
He was odds on to get a ban but 8 months isn't long enough.
Bet he won't do it again though.....
This is wholly inconsistent with what happened with Jordan Stevens; when they said he could have nothing to do with the game he was effectively banned from the training ground, yet Toney gets to train from Sept, so what exactly does it mean to have no involvement with football and where's the consistency? Further, what's a £50k fine to a Prem League footballer, it's a week's wages. Total FA shambles. I'm seeing lots of commentary about the inconsistencies of fining a player for betting in a game dominated by betting advertising - I do agree with that wholly - but he knew what he was doing, he's not a youngster and he did it 232 times, I'm sorry but that's his fault and nobody else's.
Should have been a ban from start of next season i.e. first game and zero involvement with football just like they did to Stevens who did far less and was a literal kid at the time barely old enough to bet.
However, the football he misses won't be the issue it is likely this ban will have cost him a big move this summer as you've got to imagine there'd have been sides like Spurs, Scum and Chelsea potentially looking at him as an option with a 200k+ a week deal.
50k fine? Why even bother. FA are corrupt, weak and bottle-less cowards. Then again what do you really expect from the same people who approve a Saudi takeover of Newcastle and still to this day haven't come up with a way to stop the financial doping of state-funded clubs like City
It's a london team. Surprised he got that long of a ban. If it had been a big six team it would have been 1 or 2 matches.
