    Revisit, tv license

    Just watching this today.
It seems the general public are running away in droves. These are figures from the license website itself.
THESE ARE ONLY THE FIGURES OF FOLKS DECLARING THEIR CANCELLATION.
It does not include those that simply stop paying.

They are only one year and not even the latest time scale of 2022-2023, which have been worse.
Minimum, £12 million a month. (way under the true figure)
Time to wake up and smell the coffee.

Not sure that’s news Tricky. I no longer trust BBC to reflect the country or world I live in but their programme quality alone is worth the license fee and I for one will pay it while it’s required to do so. Non license fee payers are easy to find, I just need to pop down to our local CO-OP and check out the folk jumping out of their massive 4 x 4’s parked in Disabled spaces. I’m sure you get my point

Similarly, I just don't watch their news reports/channels. But I'd miss MotD (particularly when they are covering live football) & Springwatch, I just can't be bothered to cancel a licence in protest at their journalism. Other channels aren't any better anyway.

I think Andy, that is the point.
You think its worth it, so pay it. A lot of people don't watch it and now have decided they aren't going to pay for it.
You and GP are the finance guru's in here. £11 million a month vanishing, is not sustainable for any business.
I didn't realise how much money we are talking here.
If they are losing over £130 - £200 million a year, something has to give.
Either they change as a corporation, or they need to change their funding method.

The public has voted with its feet.

    Lol...very well put.
BBC may not be as independent of Government interference as it was - though that’s another (breaking) story - however for me it’s still money well spent.
For little more than £13 per month I get access to some excellent TV, access to Radios 2, 4, 5L, 6 and Derby and still, imo, the most responsible news coverage available.
My annual licence fee is equivalent to just two (!) months of my annual Sky package.

I think you miss the point, its not the job of the BBC to reflect the country or world you live in, but the real world!

If it reflected the world you live in, then it would only be reflecting a very narrow perspective and would not be doing the job its supposed to do.
