You know I actually believe the guy is genuine in his comments and best wishes to him for the future but the fact remains that he has been past his sell-by date for a while. Sentiment has its place but it certainly isn't enough on its own and the club should have parted ways with him a lot earlier given his injury record and later performances on the pitch.

Hi, I've met him on a few occasions and he his a top man and our Reece said he great with the foundation work .
He remembered Reece's name when we spoke before one the matches and he always has time for the fans.

I don't doubt that Soulman and reading between the lines from when reading various articles or listening to the Albion commentary I have certainly always got the feeling that the guy is very well liked at the club and has a passion for both WBA and it's fans. There must obviously have been a reason why he was chosen to wear the captain's armband ! Just saying that, in terms of performances on the pitch, I think his time is up and probably has been for a while. If there is a possibility of working for the club in some other capacity I am sure he could be a genuine asset though. I'm pleased that there remain players like him who still actively interact with the fans because it means a lot to them as I'm sure it has to both Reece and yourself. This is as it should be and (rose tinted glasses?) always once seemed to be back in the days before big money entered the game.

That’s harsh, Al, and uncalled for. Yes, he may be past his best but I do think that he always put the effort in, unlike some. He does seem to have a love for the club and I thank him for that. All the best for the future, Jake.

I read that letter the other day. Genuine sentiments. He has had some good spells for us but anyone who thinks highly of the club would be of value being given a job at the club. He has a lot of experience. Just off the pace now.

Obviously ‘anno domini’ has caught up with him but that doesn’t alter the service that he has given to our club over the years. He has a great fondness for West Brom and I wish him well for the future, whether it is with us or elsewhere.

He always put a shift in, dealt with a few demons earlier in his career and is obviously someone positive around the dressing room, he can’t help getting older and slower, a lot of the poor performances for me came when he was asked to do too much in midfield, anchored as a deep lying CDM he did a decent job.
