Thread: New US investors.

  1. #11
We are entering uncharted waters, Burnley Football Club are back in the Premier League with an American owner, a Belgian manager, a first team squad comprising players from all over the globe and now attracting US investors from a sporting background.

It's not that long ago old tight bollox was deliberating whether to blow a few hundred grand on Dale Stephens. I cannot think of any other team where the change and reward has been so drastic.

The transformation is quite incredible and I don't think it will stop here.

I don’t think that they will be involved directly - more the connections that they have in the sporting world. Just as working with VK is seen as an attraction to bring in new talent, as we have seen, because they are both respected in their fields, players may view the club in a more positive, attractive light.

We shall see. I see it as a positive for the club and can only help our global profile.

His wife is showing a real interest in the ladies team having represented the US at international level.
We are starting to see the benefits have have an investment company as our owners with other US sports stars also showing an interest.
Can we please see this as a plus with exposure now in the USA and South Africa which are relatively untapped markets in the Englisg game apart from the odd US player we have at the moment.
Yes CM this is a positive for the club and if it raises our profile internationally it can only be to the good. The move for Foster might open opportunities for players from all parts of Africa to join the Clarets.

My understanding of this is that it has mainly to do with branding. Not so much to get talented players, but supporters in the US. We now have a highly respectable former NFL superstar taking to the Americans about us. Pace have said he wanted to grow the club internationally, and America is what he knows best. Mrs Watts is also a Mormon as I understand it, which is another thing Mr Pace seems to know a lot of.
If Mr Pace can get the best defensive PL player to manage us. And the best defensive NFL player of all time to invest in and work for us... I will await to see what more he can do
