Wolves are surely safe now with 40 points after the victory. Toti score off the great corner delivery from Neves and Wolves held on after that. Villa had the better first half overall IMO but after halftime, Wolves were at worst even with them despite being happy to let Villa have much of the ball. Sa had a few wonderful saves but outside Watkins heading a cross straight into his arm and a tame volley by Mings from a set piece, Villa didn’t have any chances that wouldn’t have taken a near perfect shot from them.

Neto didn’t score or get an assist but he was all over the field. Excellent to see him fully healthy and dangerous. Nunes made life miserable for Moreno despite being a little too generous with the ball at times. Cunha had an incredible run in the first half and was unlucky to not generate at least a chance from it. Just ran out of steam.

Yes, Neto is finally starting to look like the Neto of old.

It's been an awful long time but great to see.

A very good but hard earned win. Once again the opposition had more possession but Wolves scored the only goal.

Before the game there was a raucous atmosphere, with the South bank winding up the visitor support with the high pitched chant of "Vila Vila Villa." In an open game at times, the fans played a big part in Wolves victory. Buendia for Villa was probably the best player on the pitch. He was a constant menace to the home side defenders but Dawson, again outstanding, with the aid of Sa kept him out.

Toti gave us a great start with a thumping header which even the great Martinez couldn't save. Stuart Attwell the referee appeared to favour the visitors with free kicks, which incised the crowd, but towards the end a few went in our favour.

A mention once again for Costa, he ran his heart out and was unfortunate to pick up a yellow after he tangled with Mings. I bet the Villa man was wetting himself!!!!. Diego received a great round of applause when he left the field, he has become a real fans favourite. Neves, what can you say about this man, he just ticks all the boxes. He has now played 250 games for the Old Gold. He was questioned about his future by the BBC interviewer after the game and he spoke with real feeling about his love for Wolverhampton, the city, and Wolves. It was difficult to ascertain whether he will be with us next season. I hope so.

I thought we were safe with 34 points, 37 was better but 40 is great. That is thirty points since Julen Lopetegui took over, which is about 1.5 per game. Normally the team bottom at Christmas gets relegated, but not this year. Remember that each position in the table is worth millions of pounds in revenue.

The summer transfer window will be very interesting. who will leave and who will arrive.

The Manger stated that this was his best achievement in football, some statement when you look at his record!
