I often wondered why Revie walked up to the ref carrying his overcoat, he was a very peculiar bloke

What a game that was - watched the highlights many time. Bremner should have been arrested for GBH for that elbow on Merrick in 2nd half.

Love 're-watching these games from the late 60s/ 70s. This was certainly one of the classics of the era-though probably mostly remembered now because of the Suggett/Astle goal "controversy". By the rules of the game then, the ref was undoubtedly correct though so whilst Leeds fans might bemoan the linesman they really can't argue that the goal should have been disallowed and all their whinging since is just sour grapes.

The Leeds team of the time had a lot of talent and I always thought it a pity that Revie encouraged the "Dirty Leeds" style of play. Bremner in particular could be a nasty piece of work on the pitch though, never mind old "bite yer legs" Hunter. On this occasion however they came up against an equally tough Albion team who also had quality players and Leeds's own errors cost them. A deserved win for us and great to re-watch players like Astle and Bomber in action as well as Suggett who was always a favourite of mine at the time.

Legend of a goal that denied Leeds the title which is fine by most of us i reckon .

Leeds were cheats back then and what goes around comes around .

According to wiki Ray Tinkler is still alive, he's 88, as he ever given his version of events to the media?

Thanks - after reading the article it appears that Tinkler was still far from unrepentant, that's because he was probably right
