Considering we learched from one admin to another a few years back its hard to be too critical, but this club and one or two others seem to be intent on taking the p*ss with the football authorities.

It couldn't happen to a more deserving club and set of fans. 😅

When I was a lad it was a Rugby (league - not the proper one!) town.
They were a division 4 team with a 5hit “ground” and very poorly supported.
Dave Whelan built them a new ground and that forced some of them to be football fans.
Now they’re going back to where they started…

    League One Wigan Athletic

Wigan Athletic - Have been slapped with a transfer embargo, due to a tax issue with the HMRC.
Breach of the EFL rule 17 - Relates to tax matters with the HMRC.

EFL - Earlier on Thursday announced changes to their regulations, stipulating any club who
accumulate 30 days of late payments within 12 months , will be subjected to a ban on paying
transfer fees for 3 consecutive windows, it appears Wigan Athletic could be in breach of this.

But the new rule came in today, so Wigan Athletic have 30 days to settle their outstanding debts,
so gives then a chance in beating the ruling.

But as we know they will still sign free agents and pay them in wages instead of transfer fees…enforcing a squad limit is more punishing than a embargo..

Its hard to believe though, that they only made their Efl debut in the Fourth Division, in 1978!. And we still have never beaten them at home. 😲
Weren't they still in the bottom division in the mid 90s, at Springfield park ?. Before Whelan bankrolled them to the Prem and an Fa cup win.
