2-1 us with a late Odegaard strike. We have one foot there with a win today.

A loss might bring in a bit of trepedation. Massive today.

I'm not confident at all. I've got to go out around at half time (ahh, the days when I would be there) so will be trying to keep my phone near but I've a horrid feeling we'll start slowly and they'll score early.

Too many years of supporting us to think otherwise...as yet.

If we give a good account of ourselves and lose, you've got to hold your hands up and accept it but it'll be a bitter pill to swallow if it's a contoversial defeat.

Mind, having said all that, with the crowd behind us, we are equally capable of putting in a first half like we did against Spurs (not saying it would be the same score-Arsenal are a billion times better than Spurs).

Won't be long until we find out...

I'm expecting controversial VAR calls against us.

Fine margins in the PL. We went in losing at HT to the bottom club in our last home game. So long as we play well for 90 minutes and don’t get shafted by the officials, I’ll be satisfied.

My cynicism extends to thinking that Gabriel will turn out to be fit (wanted to post this before the teams come out)

Ha. It's like the shite about rashford possibly missing when we were about to play them. Gabriel plays. naturally.

BUT...with Isak AND Wilson starting, we might get that storming start we need.

Newcastle XI: Pope, Trippier, Schar, Botman, Burn; Murphy, Joelinton, Bruno Guimaraes, Willock; Isak, Wilson.

Subs: Dubravka, Dummett, Gordon, Saint-Maximin, Lewis, Targett, Manquillo, Almiron, Anderson.

As for Arsenal, they also make one change to the side that beat Chelsea last time out. Gabriel Martinelli comes in for Leandro Trossard who drops to the bench.

Arsenal XI: Ramsdale; White, Kiwior, Gabriel, Zinchenko; Odegaard, Jorginho, Xhaka; Saka, Gabriel Jesus, Trossard.

Subs: Turner, Tierney, Partey, Smith Rowe, Nketiah, Holding, Trossard, Vieira, Nelson.
