Bad news on injured trio via Paul Davis (Twitter)

DEFENDER Lee Peltier is facing months on the sidelines after breaking down for Rotherham United on the opening day of the Championship campaign.

The right-back came on as a half-time substitute in last Saturday's 4-1 loss at Stoke City and lasted only 13 minutes before limping off injured.

Tests this week have shown the problem is even worse than the Millers first feared.

“Pelts has damaged his calf quite badly,” manager Matt Taylor told the Advertiser. “He'll be out for a substantial amount of time. We're talking months.

“It is a blow, a real blow. We'll miss his performances, his character, his ‘spike’.”

The 36-year-old, who signed a new one-year deal in the summer, is one of more than half a dozen Rotherham players on the casualty list and there is unwelcome news concerning winger Shane Ferguson and midfielder Jamie Lindsay.

Ferguson is to see a specialist because of lingering issues following a hernia operation and Lindsay's troublesome achilles is failing to respond to treatment. The former has been out since the end of last term while the latter hasn't played for more than a month.

“Shane's had countless problems with this stomach complaint,” Taylor said. “Jamie's issue is an incredibly frustrating one. When he first did it we felt it was just a tightness in a tendon where his calf attaches to his achilles. Maybe it's a slow-healing place because of the blood supply. It's just not improved. I expected him to be fit at the start of the season. I don't have a time frame on him.”

No idea but we’ve been caught with our pants down on this. Don’t understand why there was a rush to loan players out until nearer the end of the deadline.

We also seem to be very slow on the recruitment side which doesn’t augur well unless we get some signings in pronto.

Here we go again, same old same old.
What's the problem now? We've had the excuses of "too much running," "dodgy training pitches," etc but the same sort of issues are still with us.
Judging by his comments, MT sounds thoroughly p!ssed off.

I'm fully expecting us to be employing an exorcist soon as that's about the only hope we have left to break this curse although signing players without a history of injury might go a long way in helping too. Those types of player are probably out of our financial reach so we just keep rolling the dice and unfortunately it always ends up stuck under the settee.

Fergie is the best crosser of a ball at the club, so that’s a bit worrying. Bola has done OK in pre-season hasn’t he, might have to roll the dice with him.

MT must be getting well and truly pissed off, not being able to bring players in.The longer it goes the worse our position will become and then finding players who'll want to come will be difficult. What plan has this club got?

Get OAPs on freebies and claim to have spent coin.

This is what you get with the cheap option and the mouth pieces banking the coin and proclaiming they’ve spent the world.

Where’s the money from ward, Ajayi, vaulks, crooks, barlaser gone, on cheap freebies on lower wages.

..........and then add in Christ's work permit and the Billy Sharp saga and it seems we haven't improved since the 'Farrend Rawson Fax Machinegate!'. Does this kind of Sh*t only happen to us? The irony to all this is that MT's vision of where we want to be and the diligence of preparedness to take on a 'brutal' division has ended up with us been the least prepared to take it on since Evans got us there in 2014!
